Following on from the "are we slowing down" question I've had a quick look at what has dominated our Australian Forum in the last few months. The most popular topics can be divided into 3 broad categories, with two of these each having a sub-category.
They are
1) Contemporary news events, mainly terrorism and with a sub-category of "other off-topic" which is dominated by Takashi & Takashi-related trash.
2) Modification issues such as amuse lips & body kits. This category also has a sub-category of "boost".
3) Sydney drive days & Sydney track day. Interesting to note that the Sydney drive days attract a lot more replies & views than Melbourne activities. More than the population differential would imply.
The "stats" are
Contempory news
War on Iraq 211 & 1721
Bombs in Bali 177 & 1358
WTC Attack 98 & 922
Takashi Exposed 110 & 2141
Total 596 & 6141
Modification issues
Amuse lips 171 & 1964
Easy Mods 67 & 1162
Body Kits 25 & 470
GB for aero 52 & 574
Auto Salon 46 & 670
Mugen Spoon Ebay 27 & 342
Sub-total 388 & 5182
Boost
Vortech GB 19 & 270
Vortech SC RHD 64 & 652
Blow me 94 & 1043
Sub-Total 177 & 1965
TOTAL 565 & 7147
Sydney Drive days
Sydney Drive day 159 & 1448
HSCC Track day 99 & 935
Total 258 & 2383
So, what does all this mean?
Firstly, the terrorism issues have been major community concerns and it seems only natural that this should be reflected in our forum. The Takashi-related trash descended to such a low level that I believe it has turned a number of long standing members away from the the forum.
The issue of boost has held us all fascinated (and jealous) but as Aus is the only one who is doing it for the purpose of taking it onto the track the boost-related threads have been included with the body kits etc. These modification issues are all relatively new to this forum and whilst they did exist, they were not so prominent in the early years. IE I see them as a recent phenomenon. Perhaps this reflects a new 2nd generation of S2000 owners coming onto the forum?
I am very curious as to why the Sydney drive days attract a lot more response than the Melbourne drive days. Does anyone have any theories as to why this is so?

It's a funny thing, for "sunday drives" sydney gets the upper hand... however look at the track related threads and Melb kicks butt (mainly with The Island and Winton days). I think the conclusion is Melb peope thrash their cars more! hehehe

I just kept it quiet to avoid extra confrontation with HA given their extremely poplar reputation of service
I've thought about boost since Vortech made the kit but like to observe the reliability of this kit first (before getting myself into a mess )especially when Comptech 1st bracket result in engine block crack.

Well, now that we know what we've been talking about, the next question is "who's been doing all the talking?"
Naturally, the usual old suspects are all in the lineup but what has intrigued me is the flood of new members onto the board. We're now up to approx 570 Australian members. Over the last 5 months the new enrolments have been.....
April 13
May 17
June 33
July 30
August 25
Total 118
For these new members, the breakdown by State is....
NSW 49
Vic 38
Qld 13
SA 5
WA 9
ACT 3
Tas 1
Now I'm sure that Honda haven't been selling that many new S2000s and I doubt the used market has been that active over the cooler months. It may be possible that a lot of older owners have only recently discovered this site and perhaps a portion of these new members are ITR or other Honda folks. I couldn't help but notice from the enrolment details that a number of these newcomers are obviously still at school. (refer to the profile for S2K8U)
Of the 118 recent members, 88 have made ZERO posts, 21 have made less than 10 posts and 9 have made more than ten. The active contributors have been
Jing 67
tanghy 65
spakko 31
