Default 9/20/03 Sat Palomar/Laguna/PineValley Drive with some 350Z

Howdy to the SoCal S2000 crew. Wondering if some of you may be interested in an extended drive through Palomar/Laguna/PineValley and back with some of the local 350Z and possibly a few others (WRX, etc.)? Definitely a drive for those that love to drive, some excellent twisties and beautiful mountain high scenery.

I've posted the text about the drive below along with a link in case you happen to have a www.my350z.com user account.

If you are interested, let me know via replying to this thread here on s2ki. Would be great to get a good mix of cars for this drive. This drive will take most of the day due to the distance, lots of fun sections we will be driving through.

9/20/03 Sat Palomar/Laguna/PineValley Drive

Hey All, we've had 5 or so drives around Palomar...time to do something a bit different. I'll lead a group through an extended drive, visiting a lot of new territory while still getting in some of our favorite twisties near Palomar Mountain. This is definitely a meet for those that like to drive the twisties and get a lot of beautiful scenery in, mountain high views, woods, etc. In my humble opinion...I think the curves around Palomar are the best in California.

We'll meet at the Gas Station on 76 near the Pala Casino at 11154 Highway 76 (East of the 15 about 5 miles). Meet around 9AM 9/20/03 Saturday, we will leave at 9:30AM sharp to head up the mountain.

We will head East on 76, then take S6 (S Grade Road) to Mother

For all those newbies out there:

This is a "GREAT" run. Make sure you have fresh tires, it's going to be fast and curvy.

Ya gotta love SoCal! Looking like there will be drives with a variety of cars every weekend starting on the 14th. This one (9/20 thread) leaving mid morning versus the 6AM start of some...so a bit more traffic but allowing time for OC people to drive down (and the roads taken are usually low on traffic anyways). I'll have to join up with one of these early drives (perhaps the Oct. 19th one)...I recently needed to get some desert for visiting relatives, so...headed up to Julian for Pie via the Palomar route at 7AM...was awesome with a real low amount of traffic plus the sun barely above the horizon. Hmmm...I obviously love to drive!

Hey Shockwave, hope to meet you someday, looks like this SoCal crew has lots of events/drives, you all know how to organize! I'm hoping I can make your October drive. Your 9/27 one I'm going to be out of state, so unable to make that one.

If some of you S2K's can make it to our 9/20 drive, please do, would be great to see and talk about your cars. We will probably have 5-10 350z, 5-10 BMWs, some WRX and probably a few other misc. and the list is growing all the time.

Brian.

Hey all, Looks like lots of drives to choose from. Got this one on 9/20, shockwaves on 9/27, then another big one in October. If you can make the 9/20 with some 350Z and M3s, plus a mix of others, here's the directions to meet location:

Directions to the meet location below. Feel free to use www.mapquest.com to help get yourself there also. As for the drive directions, I'll post those later this week as well as have handouts when we meet.

Directions to Meet Place (Please show up around 9AM, drive starts exactly at 9:30AM Saturday 9/20):

We will meet at the Gas Station on Hwy 76 right next to the Pala Casino at 11154 Highway 76 (East of the 15 about 5.5 miles). The Casino and gas station is on the Right. The Gas Station is right before the casino. It is hard to miss the Casino as it is huge and has a few big flashing signs. I

Last update for any of you able to make it. Just checked weather and it looks 100% sunny on our route! Looks like a variety of 20-30 sports cars attending. I'll be passing out detailed directions and map at Pala Casino Gas Station where we meet. See previous post for directions on getting there.
