Default '04 S2000 or '00 Boxster S?

I use to own a 2001 Honda S2000 white/red. Sold it about 2 years ago.

Now I'm back in the game

I have narrowed my choice down to:

a) Brand new 2004 S2000 white/tan probably around $34K

b) 2000 Boxster S arctic silver/gray with about 4500 miles (its literally brand new) for about $38K

The Boxster S is owned by a good friend of mine who is selling it to purchase a new house.

The Boxster S has CLASSIC lines and its style will be around for years to come.

The S2000 is a beautiful piece of machinery however I don't think its line are as classic as the Boxster.

Need your input. PLEASE NO FLAMES....

I believe the '04 S2000 and '00 Boxster S are still similar in performance?

What it probably really comes down to is what I like?

When I owned my '01 S2000 I loved it. But every time when I saw a Boxster S (not the regular Boxster), my heart pumped even faster but I knew its price ($60K+) was unrealistic for me even for a Porsche. But now that I have an opportunity to own at about half the price I'm seriously considering about it. The factory red calipers, 250HP, forgiving suspension at the upper limits, and lots of storage.

Don't get me wrong, the S2000 is a sweet machine but it still a Honda. Even though the S2000 is probably more reliable and less cost to maintain then the Boxster, the enjoyment factor out weighs the negative?

Choices, choices, choices.... Am I missing something here?

You're on an S2000 board. What do you think we'll say? And when you go ask on the Boxster board what do you think they'll say? The real question is what are you looking for? You're obviously knowledgeable about both cars. So look at the differences and similarities and decide which ones are more important to you.

I was hoping members of the board would look at the choices from a sports car auto *enthusiast* perspective.

I was hoping that I would not get flame since I was a prior S2000 owner (potentially).

From a sports car auto enthusiast perspective there's no doubt which car to get: The S2000. It costs half as much (new), is equal or better than the Boxster in performance, is less costly to maintain, cheaper to modify, and IS a Honda which means it's more reliable. The Boxster ONLY wins on things like creature comforts, trunk space, and stuff that a "sports car auto *enthusiast*" couldn't care less about. But I'm pretty sure you're not going to run out and buy the Honda just because I've made such a compelling argument. You have a problem with the fact that it's "just a Honda".

Price is really not the issue since one is new the other is used.

The S2000 is equal or better in performance then a Boxster S?

Interesting...thank you for the insight.

Creature comforts? ;-)

'04 S2000 now has 2 cup holders, softer suspension, lower redline, etc...

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, if you do a search you'll find all sorts of comparisons between the two cars:
