Default New for S2000 Honda Oil Filter in Canada ?

In Calgary dealers do not seem to have it. One dealer quoted me as much as $37 (CND) to order it . In the US the new oil filter, part No. 15400-PCX-004 is about $US6. What's going on ? do we have to use the old filter, H & A would not ship from the states, any ideas?

I don't see anything wrong with using what the dealer sells you for the car now. In fact, I think there is far too much fuss over this whole oil filter deal. There are just as good filters for the money out there that are easily obtainable locally. Mind you, I do changes at 5000 KM intervals. If you go much longer, then you might be entitled to be a bit more paranoid.

Yeah if you're doing 5,000 km changes, don't even worry too much about it. My oil doesn't get that dark after 5,000 but I change it anyway mostly as a precautionary thing to make me feel better.

If you're looking for extended drain periods then I'd really look into different filters all-together and skip all of the OEM Honda ones because they're just paper as far as I know.

I change the oil & filter, Mobil 1 5W30, just before every winter, when the car goes to hibernation , so that is about every 5000km . Do you know off-a-hand the Honda filter part number, its not the same as in the US , still it is disappointing not to have the new only-for-S2000 filter available here

All Honda part numbers should be unilateral. Every part number on my former NSX were identical to all U.S. part numbers. I was told Honda does this with all models. Makes good sense, as the logistics of having differen't part numbers for the U.S. and Canada would be cost prohibitive. It's odd that your finding differen't part numbers.

mike you may want to consider running 10W30 oil, it's what is designed for the car, and will most likely provide better protection when running it hard...

Mike, if you've already seen that thread, then you have the part number, so I'm a little confused about why you are asking for a part number because generally speaking, U.S. and Canadian part numbers are the same.
If you must have the new filter, I suggest that since, HandA won't ship to Canada, PM TheHardTopGuy. He will most likely give you a better price than HandA anyway and I know for a fact that he WILL ship to Canada.
