Removing Power Steering.
Ok, stop looking at me like I'm crazy.
After driving a 91 and a 98 NSX this weekend at sears, I'm not so sure I really need the powersteering rack, not to mention the nsx unit which is very close to ours weighs about 100lbs.
If I was to remove it, where could I find a source for a rack and pinon to replace it w/?

yes tony mentioned you stopped by. he does great work I'm very happy w/ the new bar.
It'll effect the feedback some, but nothing drastic. It'll take a lap or two to get used to.
I might even change the steering ratio too if possible. I'm hoping someone here knows a source for a rack and pinon that will fit (w/ mods of course) in our car.

Krazik, I think Pegasus or one of the race component catalogue companies sell racks in both standard and custom dimensions. I don't know if they are designed specificly for formula style light weights or not. If you can't find the catalogue I'll post with the info later today. Also, the old MGBs had very good steering racks. i don't know if something like that could be adapted.

You will find a lot of offerings, but you might have a fun time trying to convert the vehicle over.
Krazik, given your curb weight the EPS is probably MUCH more of a liability than any benefit. It's a heavy monster and carries with it a lot of subsystems and wiring that will be rendered useless.
One MAJOR upside is that you can get a much better ratio rack than stock.
Does the EPS unit interface at all with the ECU? I don't think so but I don't have the manual in front of me.
