Lunar Eclipse Saturday night!
Just wanted to make sure that my fellow Mid-A owners and enthusiasts were aware that a total lunar eclipse was taking place tonight. Starts becoming noticeable a little after 6:00 PM. Mid-eclipse is a little after 8:00 and it's pretty much over after 10:30 or so.
Get out and look up tonight!

Still have a bit of work to do on the final image, but here's an example of a good night's work:
This is a composite of three images taken with a Nikon D1x digital camera with a Nikkor 400mm f/2.8 lens coupled with a 1.4x teleconverter.

Here's the final image. It pretty accurately reflects the size of the darkest part of the earth's shadow (the Umbra) relative to the size of the moon and the fact that the moon was just barely within the Umbra at totality. The left and right images were shot at approximately 1/200th of a second @ f/5.6 at ISO 125, the center image was a 2 second exposure @ f/5.6 at ISO 400. Oh the joys of digital photography!
