Default Alpine Sat Nav and S2 Wiring

Just installed Alpine INA-N033R head unit but I'm stuck with a couple of the wires.

I need to find the parking brake sensor wire (ie hand brake) and the speed pulse wire.

I've spent ages searching the forums and there seems to be conflicting oppinions about which wire to use for the speed pulse sensor and no advice at all that I could find about the parking brake sensor wire.

Anyone done this install or something similar who can give me the definitive answer for a UK S2?

Need to know which wires to tap, and where to find them.

Great forum by the way, been reading all sorts of threads for the past few weeks (since I got the car actually) and there's some really useful stuff on here. Big thumbs up to all involved.

Simon

Speaking as someone who has fitted (with some considerable help!) an Alpine unit, you've lost me unfortunately!

The idea is that if you lose the GPS signal it can use the speed sensor and it's internal gyroscope to keep tracking your position.

The parking brake signal is used so the unit can prevent you from reconfiguring your route while on the move. If you want to change it you have to stop (or apply the handbrake!). The Sat Nav menu is disabled otherwise.

I'd tie the parking brake sensor to power or ground depnding on what it expected the signal to be whilst parked. As for the speed sensor I don't know but it could be more tricky in the S as is doesn't use a standard speedo. Usually this is one of the cables that go into the back of Speedo from the ECU.

Hi Aquila Eagle,

Thanks for the welcome, I'll keep an eye out for the next Herts meet. Would be good to meet some fellow S2k enthusiasts. I've only had mine for 2 weeks but I'm already obsessed!!
