Default Open Track Day June 29 at GingerMan Raceway

GingerMan Raceway has been very kind to us this year and is having yet another open track day. Cost is $100 for the whole day, and $75 for half a day. As always, I hope to see the continued support of the S2000 community. Let me know if you need anymore information, or check out www.gingermanraceway.com for details and maps.

Brian.

I'll put in a request for the day off for that day!! I hear we need to have a helmet to race. Anybody have any suggestions as to where I can get one for a reasonable price? I've been highly anticipating going to the track!!

Girlzrace2, check out Northstar Motorsports in Barrington. All of the helmets they carry are SA2000 which is the latest safety standard and they start around $220 which is really good. They have both open and full faced helmets to choose from and a good supply of models. If they don't have the size you need, they will order it for you. If the drive is too far, go to www.northstarmotorsports.com and browse their selection. The best part is that the guys and gals over there are really nice and helpful.

While you are picking stuff up, I would recommend getting a full set of additional brake pads. Greg can attest to this!

Yes, bring an extra set of pads. I have gone through 8 sets altogether...makes me do this ---->

Also, make sure you get a full face helmet. In a convertible, you need to have this...some tracks my not let you run without that protection...

Sounds like a great day. Do we have to pre-register or just show up? Is it just for S2000s or can you bring anything? Also, how many cars usually show up?

Boy, I sure ask a lot of questions. I must be from New Jersey.

No pre-registration is necessary. Just show up at what, 8:30, Brian? Is that when the driver's meeting is?

We did a TON of time out there last year and some days the turnout was anywhere from as low as 10-12 cars to 20 or so. The track time is wide open and you simply can't beat the price for this amount of seat time.

Any kind of cars can show, not just S2000's.

It's an awesome track...if you want to push the limits of the S2000, this is one of the best places to do it...

Makes me do this ----->

Greg, great point about the full face/convertible combo.

I will check with Bob, but the last couple of open track days have gone from 7am to 5 or 6pm. In addition, any of you die hards can stay into the night session for $50 which goes until dusk. There is usually a brief drivers meeting first thing, and then as more poeple show up, they talk to them individually. During such days, I have racked up more than 75 laps!

All cars are welcome. We've seen trucks (F150 Lightning) VW's, Foci, wagons you name it.

Chicagoans and near by, do we want to caravan up there?

I will be there. I have a feeling I am going to be sick that day. I have already booked my sick day at work. hehe.

The Chicago folks, don't chicken out this time. I was there on May 25th, all of you guys are no show. It is just a little wet, water won't kill you.
