What mechanical components prevent 04 s2k from reving to 9k

Default What mechanical components prevent 04 s2k from reving to 9k

aside from the ecu what limits such revs?

I would say the conrods are one limiting factor.

With the extra stroke of the 2.2 the piston speeds at 9,000 RPMs would be astronomical...

I would say once you over come the ECU's rev limiter nothing would stop you from revving to 9,000 or whatever. For a while at least.

I don't know. Is it that simple? Where are all the mechanical engineers when we need them.

If I'm not mistaken doesn't the 2.0 already have the highest piston speeds of any production engine ever? If that's the case, one wonders how much more piston speed the engine could really take, and for how long.

am asking on a turbo point of view, as most of the components will be upgraged to withstand boost will this allow for further reving? I think it will be fun to see how this engine reacts to boost, dont know if the extra stroke will yield more torque than the 00-03 once boosted.
