Default Should WRS2K be banned?

We are getting a lot of complaints and having a big problem with WRS2K. He's one of yours so I want to pass this issue through you before we take any action. I understand he's well liked within your circle by some so this is a big problem for us. Regardless we can't have him running around the site slamming everyone and acting like a general jackass. Something needs to be done.

I think he is brilliant in his own right - yet can be abbrasive which is one of the reasons I like him.

If you need to scold him to turn down the volume, would that not be logical step 1?

This BB would not be the same without him.

He's told a site moderator to go f*ck himself when he was asked to be polite and told another mod to pound salt. He is out of control and the two options are get rid of him or make him your problem exclusively.

I vote neither. One mod has a bug up his a$$ over WRS2K. I'm sure you will find others that will support him.

I have issues with members posting racial slurs and other *truly* offensive material (which I will be happy to provide for you on request) who have yet to recieve even a slap on the wrist. I complained to mods about the posts - they agree with me privately but publicly - nothing happens.

Very disappointing.

WRS2K offers some rather pointed opinions on the appearance of some cars - that much is readily appearant. Sure - it can be pretty blunt - but when someone posts a pic on a public forum and asks for an opinion - they should be ready for the reaction.

He - in almost every case restricts his comments to the cars - not the people. I think that's an important distinction.

Many of us find his critiques refreshing. And they are all tounge-in-cheek - something that some folks overlook.

cthree - have you asked some of the other mods about their opinion of WRS2K?

That said (he "punked"). I think I would ask him to change his password and see what happpens. I know there are a "few" folks out there that may know how to post as him on this BB....

Maybe I am being ignorant? I do not know. I know a lot of us would miss not having Ben around.

I say do what you have to do, but I would like to think I have made a few decent suggestions before a permanent ban or spending THAT much time writing to keep him just to this forum.

You are the boss; Give us a day.

I agree with Lig. As far as a Vote goes, I don't see much difference between the two choices... Sort of a "do you want a sharp stick in the eye, or a blunt one?" choice

I don't know him that well, but so far in person, he's been good to me. But I've never pissed him off yet in person nor on this board.

Maybe there's more to the story if you dig deeper... My 2 cents.

The more I think about this - the more is pi$$es me off. Where does it stop? You want to make this board a better place? Why do we put up that a$$hole SHIRI and others of his ilk.

We have other board members and guests who rip trusting board members and guests off... and many of them seem to be allowed to to stay...

I had some loser for a few days follow my posts with some lame-ass attacks on me. Reported them to a mod - who agreed that something was wrong but nobody threatened to ban him.

Erik - have you read this thread? It is all in good fun and really what WRS2K is all about. Everyone on that thread is having fun and taking it lightly.

I have posted my opinions about this matter in the moderator forum.

I share the same feeling as lig on this. There are numerous other users on this board that are far worse than WRS2K. SHIRI has already been banned but what about all the people that say the MY04 is a watered down POS and anyone who buys one is an idiot or gay? There are several threads about it.
What about 85% of the posters in Street Encounters?
What about me?

I've posted some nasty stuff and even directed some strong negative opinions toward site sponsors. I've told people to f$ck off, called them an idiot, told them I'd like to see them dead, said I didn't like what they did to their car, called someone a racist, posted porn, solicited sex from members, told site mods to eat me, get a life and physically threatened someone. I tell a forum mod he's gay all the time (Brant) and I've pissed off another forum moderator to the point where he wanted to ban me (The Unabageler) but I'm still here.

The decision is ultimately yours to make. The last time I checked this site was not a democracy.

I have abstained from this vote.

I'll have to disagree with everyone on this one. In my time on the site, WRS2K's the only person I've seen who consistently attacks other people or their rides -- he's the only person on my ignore list who's there due to sheer offensiveness as opposed to cluelessness. Other people, myself included, are guilty of stooping to personal attacks on occasion, but it seems the majority of WRS2K posts that I see are attacks. I also don't buy into the "he's just insulting the car" argument. Let's be honest; on a car forum, attacking someone's car is a personal attack, especially when you say something like "your car is an ugly piece of crap".

Having said that, as evidenced in this thread, for reasons unknown to me, people in Pacific Northwest S2000 Owners generally like him, so banning him to just this forum would seem to be a reasonable compromise. Also, I agree with the others that there's a lot of noise on s2ki.com which could stand to be banned; it would be great if a much stricter policy on personal attacks could be adopted, but I understand how that would greatly increase the workload for the moderators.

Erik I think you know where MOM stands on this one.......I too agree the CAN be a bit on the abrasive side and I DONT like seein that!

He IS a GOOD BUD of mine though in REAL LIFE and I do him! I think he is a very sweet and kind person just has a different attitude in here!

Maybe we just need Mom to give him a GOOD in and maybe he'll start behavin!

I agree with Liggy Man though where I have seen MUCH and many more OFFENSIVE posts that seem to just slide by and get ignored! Truthfully they really dont BOTHER Mom all that much considering what I post/say sometimes

I hope it can be resolved without him having to be banned though!
