Is this the World's Fastest Honda or do I need to do some more work?
Hi, folks,
Some of you might "know" me from threads in "Under the Hood". For those who don't... Hello. I drive a Honda of sorts, basically a built from the ground up race car that is designed for one thing and one thing only. Top Speed. Period. It doesn't really have any brakes, and the turning radius is way over 200 feet, actually probably over 300 because the car can't make the turns on the 1/4 mile track around a football field without backing and filling.
So how did I qualify for S2KI? I run a 2002 S2000 motor and tranny and an S2000 shift knob. Chevrolet 2.56 rear end, Mickey Thompson and Goodyear tires, Deist Safety Equipment and pretty much everything else is home built. And I bill my car as Possibly The World's Fastest Honda. Because I don't know. Now I may have to change it add something like ...World's Fastest Honda That Doesn't Leave The Ground Intentionally because I just saw the Hondajet, Honda's new entry into the biz jet marketplace. It does 450 mph and is waaayyyy sexy.
Anyway for the gear heads out there (like who in this forum isn't?) the motor is basically bone stock, except for .008" I had to take off the head from when I screwed up the cooling plumbing and sorta warped things, and an Electromotive TEC III that I run because I'm not smart enough to make all the stock ECU stuff work. Besides the TEC III has way more cool features than the stocker.
So the basic question is, do you know of any faster Honda anywhere, in any category of any kind of racing? I think even the GP cars "only" go 240mph or so.
Help me please. My fragile ego is at stake here.
Thanks,
Jim Knapp

World fastest civic
It's faster than this impressive car that 'only' hit 204.
This may be faster.
We've all fantasized about driving a 900-horse 240-mph CART car like Michael's Lola Honda.

s2000raj,
I've talked to those guys. They are nuts. I mean they drive that teeny little wheelbase with that anti-aeroback end over 200 mph!?!? That is crazy. At least my car is built to go fast. Seriously, though, they deserve a lot of praise for what they've done
krazik,
NICE ride, but I too used to wander all around looking for the finish line, sometimes for hours. Now I just drive straight to it. Exactly like drag racing, only 5 miles instead of a 1/4. Keep your shiny side up!
payneinthe,
I bet a BAR could get there too, but don't forget you've got a couple of VERY real items they would have to overcome. First of all they are very light, so no traction. Bonneville traction is like wet asphalt, i.e., heavy cars work best. Then the tires. My car has a Cd (coefficient of drag) of, I'm guessing about .14. The BAR car is probably over 1.00 with the down force wings. W/O the wings just the big tires (which give little traction on the salt) would probably put it around .75. Now with that Cd, and at that speed let's say they do 240mph with 900 hp. Then it would take approximately 150 more hp to run another 20 mph. Not out of the question with adjustable boost, but the traction would kill you. True you could add weight, and you could... and you could... but at what point to have a different car? See http://www.perry-lake.k12.oh.us/phs/Classd...r_topspeed.html for math for hp/speed stuff.
Anyway, thanks all for the responses. I'll keep checking too.
All the best,
Jim
