Hmmm... The page I stole the pic from says they were there when the dude came into the clinic. But you're saying the maggots were actually helping him, in this case?

 

in the sense that he would be septic and dead if they weren't eating the dead tissue. Sterile maggots are used to debride chronic wounds...hard to get though. Anyway, the maggots eat the deat tissue that would normaly be rotting. If not maggots, tissue rots, bacteria thrive, the guy gets septic (bacteria in the blood stream), goes into septic shock and dies.
