I am looking to a reasonble priced low profile floor jack.

My current jack stands about 5" tall when lowered completely, and currently it just *BARELY* fits under the side jack points. Someday I plan to lower the car some. So I am looking for a lower profile jack.

I have had the same problem. I solved it by making some ramps from 2"x12" lumber which give the vehicle enough elevation to get a jack under the front spoiler for example. I have other ramps which do not work because of the front spoiler.

I also made a ramp using 2x12 lumber in order to get my floor jack underneath the front. It worked pretty well. Here's a picture:

Since then I saw a set of plastic ramps called Jackramps at an autocross and I bought those. Here's a picture of this ramp:

Dimensions are 24" long by 7" wide. Height is 2" for the lower step and 3" for the upper step. Cost was $40.00 + shipping from Protech Products, 405 S. Victory Blvd., Burbank, CA, 91502, 818-558-1146. No Web site a couple of months ago, may have one now.

However, I've also seen a similar plastic ramp at Griot's Garage which cost $45.00, but they have a "stopper" similar to the one that I made for my wooden ramps.

Krazik:

I went to Costco and picked up a 2 ton floorjack. guess what? It fits perfectly when you remove the "extra" pad. If you want to check it out, just come on by sometime. If you'll recall, I brought it to the track day at Thunderhill and we never used it.

I found this jack when I had my Pantera. It is also an extremely low car.

I think this jack cost me all of $40.

Even if a jack fits underneath the front of the car, because the jacking point for the front of the car is so far underneath, you may not get very much travel for the jack handle. That's why I use the ramps, to get the front end high enough to be able to get more handle travel.

I think it's time to llok into those expensive, light jacks racing tems use available from BSR and other race suppliers. these are low, light but will cost you a lot, at least more than the Costco unit.
