Has anyone attempted mounting an '04 S2000's Digital Gauge Cluster (with the clock) in an '00 model? I'm not sure about '02 & '03 models having a clock but I'm positive the '04 has it. I'm curious about odometer readings being the same, etc. It would seem like a good mod for the clock (plus I hear the '04 Gauge Cluster has better readability).
Also (a bit off subject)--anyone have luck/experience with the Spoon 3-puck clutch? Just got a hell of a deal on a new ebay Spoon clutch kit that came w/a 3-puck, but I'm mostly a daily driver (no tracking, yet). I'm curious about matching the latest OEM clutch with the Spoon clutch cover and Spoon flywheel. Thanks for the input!

 

That might be a good mod IF the 04 stooks didn't have a diffrent readline!

 

And the gauges were circa 80's Corvette.

 

The JDM Gauges would work. And i dont think the 3 puck clutch is very good for a daily driver. Ots like and on off switch.

I've heard about the redline differences between the '04 and '00-'03 S2000's--but was unaware if it was true or not. Is it also true that the '04 S2000 is a 2.2L engine (vs of '00-'03 2.0L engine)?

Any other inputs on the Gauge mod--has anyone attempted this out there? Is the redline issue a problem?

 

I'm not even talking about analog... The 04 gauges look like those from an 80's vette, with the half space tach and such...

 

The new motor is a 2.2 with an 8k redline
Plus, the new instrument panel is ugly.
Seems like an awful lot of work just for a clock.

As far as the work goes--you probably have a point, but I occasionally see some pretty sweet deals on S2000 parts on ebay (fastly becoming an ebay-aholic, I'm afraid) and if I get the chance to pick an '04 gauge up, I'm curious how it might integrate into an older gen S2000.

As far as the looks are concerned, I don't think the new gauge any uglier than the older version (that being said, they are both pretty terrible)--but if I can get a brighter, more featured version that works for cheap (above argument), why not?

 

Honestly I think the brightest gauge clusters are the 00-01s which had more orange and less red.

Additionally, the Pre-04 gauge clusters are meant to mimic/emulate a race car display. The new ones emulate garbage.

 

You can also use the Euro Spec parts too, not just JDM.
The Euro is better because it has the MPH / KPH conversion which the JDM does not have.

This way you keep the 9K redline (Euro & JDM kept the 2.0l motor), and the new readout AND clock!

Now....try to find it for a good deal.
