Default Newbie here looking for parts.

HI, my name is Andre and I joined this post simply for the purpose of rebuilding my friends car. As most of you know by now a few weeks 19 year old Hashem Malick was killed driving his s2k. He was my best friend. As a tribute to him, a group of my friends are going to get to gether and fix the car. We already have it in our posesion. I would just like to know where I can get my hands on a front clip and other parts. I was directed to post in this form after posting in "S2k talk" Any info would be great, thank you.

Sorry for your friend... You can also start by calling all junk yards for major parts like that. You could post a wtb thread on the For Sale or Wanted forum.

Good luck with the project.

You might want to get in touch with Speedfreak as he is a body man.............he will know where to get parts for the car.

As this is a limited production car you will have a hard time finding things local. So the internet will be your friend to finding parts.

I commend you for doing a tribute to him. Though I personally think that the vehicle of his end should not be the tribute to him. I have a bias against people under 21 driving this car. I have seen to many people get hurt so young because they weren't experienced enough.

Always wear seat belts and always KNOW YOUR LIMITS and the limits of your car.

Glad to hear that you are taking his passing and being constructive about this tragity.

Thank you for the info. Pinky the reason we are doing this as a tribute is becuase our group of friends loves cars, and we made a pact when we got our licenses that if we die in our cars we want them repaired, not given to the junk yards. If you saw the car you would ask me why I would even bother, but its just to honor my best friend. He only had it 10 months but loved that car so much. Plus we have encouragement from his mother, who would like to see it whole again.

Wow. This will be quite expensive. I hope you have some source of financing for this. It is a very nice pact you have with eachother, but the cost to restore an accident wreck correctly is quite high.

Well after it is restored we will return it to his mother. She really wants it done becuase it is the one thing in the world her son loved. We do realize that it will be more then buying a new s2000, but all of us are going to do the labor. One of our friends owns a bodyshop so we can do most of the work there. The motor still turns over, we just need a throttle body becuase that literally exploded into pieces. We are going to try and fund raise the money, and with our jobs just put together what we can.

Well I must say, its rare in the world today to find and have such friends... let alone a small group with such love and trust for one another. To that end I'm sure you will make his mom proud. I hope she drives the car after your done with it.
Good luck with the project. I do highly suggest that you start a fund raiser to help with the cost of the rebuild, because it will be quite high. Will you restore it to the way it was or to what he wanted it to become?
