Hello all,

I'm interested to hear what strange habits and superstitions you folks do before, during, or after your drives--for the sake of all-purpose good luck, anal retentivity, and/or the avoidance of being pulled over by coppers. It should be fascinating seeing what different rituals there are, and maybe finding out some of their origins, not to mention the surprise of discovering if someone shares that same action as another who has always prided themselves as being "unique" for doing it. I'm pretty sure my antics aren't original, but I do what I do--and with that, I shall start...

i have heard of the lifting your feet thing over railroad tracks...... and something goofy like kissing your fingers and smacking the roof of the car if you run a yellow light.....

I personally don't do any of the things you listed...or that i listed......

It would be akin to me saying that I scratch my ballz before every shift. Which I do NOT do.

... Last thing I would do is take my hands off the steering wheel, especially going through an intersection (ESPECIALLY since your running a near-red light).

$.02,

If I'm running a yellow, I'll push the clutch in with my left foot, then shift the lever into 2nd and when the light turns red or when I reach the opposite crossing lanes, which ever happens first, I sidestep the clutch and nail the throttle.

If a vehicle is creeping in an intersection to make a turn and merge with my direction of flow, I'll blip the throttle to redline a few times until I've passed them, then revmatch into 2nd and smoke the tires as I cross them, all to keep them from making any funny moves. That's in my Camaro. In my truck, I'll get as close to them as possible, and if they're already sticking out into my lane, I'll try to rip off their front bumper by clipping theirs with mine.

If I'm traveling at a rate of speed higher then the rest of traffic, or whenever a vehicle moves too close proximity for my comfort, or makes a lane change that puts me in their blind spot, I'll blip the throttle a few times to make sure they know I'm there, again to prevent any mishaps.

My passengers, even when they're in the back seat, grab ahold of anything possible whenever the vehicle gets hand-over-hand full-lock sideways as I induce power-on oversteer on 90

Ya, I hold my breath through tunnels, just to see if I can do it, but I've heard about the graveyard one.

My graveyard thing is to hide in bushes and jump out at people visiting loved ones.
