I decided to post this in "S2000 Talk" because "Tell Honda" doesn't seem to get the same amount of attention.

Two of my fellow Mid-Atlantic owners have tried passing claims with Honda. Both are 2000 models and one is still under warranty. Honda said the claims are not safety issues and they have not logged enough complaints for this problem yet! As of right now, this is considered a "Customer Pay" problem. The fact of the matter is, this is a safety problem as some states will not allow a Positive State Inspection on it, and a ticket can be issued by a police officer (this is the case in Virginia).

If you have this problem post up! Pictures of your faded taillights will help too, so others will understand what the problem is. ALSO - this is most important - if you have the faded taillights, go to ANY Honda dealer and log the complaint - ask for a warranty claim even if you are not under Honda warranty anymore. You can take your claim to as many Honda dealers as you like

I had the faded taillights and had them replaced under warranty no problem. PM if you need info.

Also, a friend of mine, also with a '00 has them (He didn't realize it until I pointed it out, however)

Can you guys explain what you mean by "fading"? Do you mean that they just aren't as bright as b4? Or is it a prob related to the plastic covering the lights?

As Poindexter said, pics would be welcome.

Thx.

If your lenses look pink, or even clear, instead of red, they've faded

Honda is already aware of the problem. Just call the 1-800 number and they'll hook you up. I'm going to do it this summer.

Hey Poindexter,

I had the pink taillamp syndrome on my 2000, as well.
After the local dealers refused to take care of me again, I was able to work it out and did the swap myself.

This is a serious safety issue. I have registered a complaint with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Admin - whatever) regarding this exact problem. The more people we can get to go to the NHTSA the better, as they influence safety recalls!!!

In CA, cops can issue citations for those faded lamps - and we all know theres alot of S2Ks here in Cali.
