I'm looking at getting an exhaust, what do you guys recommend?

Ben - When I was tailing you last Saturday, your exhaust looks sick from behind, with two thick pipes that snake into a pair of polished mufflers. Good looking set-up, bro

i haven't seen too many setups for the '04, but i'd personally go for a Mugen exhaust.

don't get too caught up on hp gains. sticking with the brand names... focus on looks and sound first and then go for weight savings. too many guys on this board stress over hp gains with an exhaust. really, it's just a big ass waste of time.

good luck.

I used to design mufflers for Boeing. I could probably design something that had almost no pressure drop and maybe even quieted the exhaust more than the stock muffler.

Problem is it would cost about $80K, but you can't have everything. Any if it was made of CP Ti it would have that cool gold color....

Personally I like the Comptech the most. Talk to Pedal Faster if you want an impression on the Mugen...

I have heard the HKS sounds the best, but for some reason people have said with HKS you lose like 4- 6 horse, that's really odd. Ultimately, all I really want is an exhaust that sounds awesome, looks good, and gains some horse. I know exhaust alone isn't going to add real noticable gains. However, some guys are saying the T1R yields gains of 12 horse, which seems unfathomable.

Meaningful HP gains probably aren't gonna happen. You'd be better off shooting for reduced weight rather than increased HP.

I want the best sound for sure. THat's priority numero uno.
Here's a vid with a guy running Comptech everything from a S/C to exhaust.

The sound is a bit skewed cuz he's running the Comptech SC, too. Ryan's a friend of mine.

Anyway, if you want to hear the Comptech exhaust, it's what VTECMOM is running on her car...

cool. Mugen, I hear is one of the quieter exhausts out there, but definitely in league of it's own in terms of cost. I'm swaying towards HKS, based on what i've heard from others in terms of sound quality. That loss of horsepower kills me though.
