Has anyone noticed a blind spot on the driver side when driving with the top up? Whenever I look over to change to the left lane, all I can see is the black convertable cover. I'm so used to the good side visability of a rear window driving my other cars. The S2K is something I need to pay more attention of when doing left lane changes.

Try to position the mirror farther out. I had the same problem but moved the mirror out until I can barely see the edge of the car.

Also, Spoon carries a convex mirror that replaces the stock one and solves the problem.

I added the convex mirror to the drivers side and it's helps. I couldn't get much benefit from just adjusting the drivers mirror. I've had convertibles before, but this blind spot is huge. Other cars I've had have a plastic window in the side of the top. That helps eliminate the blind spot.

 

Since you also live in Dallas, have you been driving with the top down on the mornings when it's 45 degrees out?

I think that the blind spot on the passenger side is worse. I don't have problems on either side when changing lanes, but watch out when you use a center turn lane or areas between islands. I pulled out making a left turn (leaving 1Y2KS2K's place) onto a busy street, I pulled into the area between islands, but turn the car only about 45 deg. I glanced to my right to check traffic and all I could see was the top. So make sure you stay nearly perpendicular are parrallel to oncoming traffic.

Jeez, just go to Target and get the little 1 1/2" parabolic mirror for .99 in the automotive section. It is small, and when affixed in the lower left corner of the driver's mirror, a quick glance eliminates all the blind spots.

I had my car for 2 hours, went to Target, and put a .99 piece of crap on my $35,000 car, and it is still there one year later, clear as ever. And it works as well as the one that I ahd on my Prelude and before that, my Civic (for 4 years!).

No need to get fancy pivoting stuff, the basics are the least obtrusive and the best. If you keep it simple, it'll work. And should something go wrong with it, (which it won't) you can get another one for another .99.

Just don't get taken for a ride, I've seen the same mirrors in "other" stores for $1.99. But then again, that is orders of magnitude cheaper (actually on a factor of ten) than the fancy-schmancy stuff.
