For safety (the a/f may be too lean) and sheer curiosity of what she's putting down, I brought my baby to UL's shop this past Saturday morning for baseline dynos and for him to sprinkle his tuning pixie-dust. Mod-wise, she's just running the stock header/exhaust. I picked up a used vafc v.1 + harness last week. The SC was installed a few weeks ago.

Not only is she now running a better afr, UL also coaxed and massaged more power from all the right places. (My scanner didn't seem to capture the colors well; red/magenta-lines are the baseline before tuning.)

AFR Graph: (baseline is the one with the large peaks at around 5000 and 7000 rpm)

HP Graph:

Torque Graph: (wow... mid-range improvements)

In retrospect I wish I ran a baseline dyno when the car was stock. But with 314 hp and 184 ft/lb... I'm quite happy.

Here's another happy UL customer!

I'm jealous, Ray!

Now you'll need some brakes to slow it down.

Thanks everyone!

- Ha... no plans to sell for a very looooong time.

- I can't wait to hit the track. Looking forward to an HPDE.

- Nah... don't need no stinkin' brakes...

Some other "take-away" messages from UL's was:
1. For FI, use gas from stations that have MTBE additives. Stay away from 76 because they add ethanol (which promotes pinging/knocking, but is perfectly fine for NA).

2. Use hi-octane/race fuel at the track. This is a no-brainer, BUT I know that I'm going to fill-up the tank before driving out to Buttonwillow or some track and then realize that I should've timed it out to arrive at the track with a somewhat empty tank. Duh.

3. Need a more free-flowing header/exhaust. Saving up my pennies again...

Just a quick question Hitman...

Did UL have any reservations about tuning the S/C with the VAFC or mention that you should think about upgrading from it? Just curious if he thinks the VAFC and S/C are a bad combination as suggested in the other thread...

I saw you posted a link to this thread in the one about not using a VAFC with the Comptech S/C. I thought people had been doing it for some time without any problems, but that thread was making me think twice. I'm glad to see you had this tuned at UL's as that is where I plan on going this fall with my S/C.

Nice nymbers by the way...Is that the Comptech S/C with no A/C?

Isn't MTBE being phased out??? I'm pretty sure everyone is going to be switching to ethanol soon, if they already haven't.

UL is great. He's always able to find more power out of the car.
