Default Have You Found Better Tires Than The SO2's? Please Post Them Here...

If you have found better tires than the SO2's, please list them here.
Catagory:
1. Performance
2. Weather
3. Mileage
If you were to recommend a tire that had all 3 criteria, what would you recommend for the S2000?

i've driven a s2000 with s03's and i comment on the following:

-the s03 does have a longer thread life
-the s03 is noticably QUIETER than the s02(less road noise)
-the s03 is safer to drive in the rain, but still not good for snow

those are the advantages of the s03 over the s02.

You should search Tire and wheel forum but the consensuus there will be:

1) There is no better summer performance tire OEM SO2's.
2) No tire will last appreciably longer (including the SO3) unless you are willing to radically sacrifice performance
3) The SO3 is a much better wet weather performer than the OEM SO2
4) If you get anything but the SO2 OEM Honda you need a 245/45-16 rear (including the SO3)
5) The SO3 is probably one of the favorites from that forum

SO3's are not cheaper than SO2's so don't get them because you want to save $$. I would get them only if you need the wet weather performance.

As far as cheaper tires there are many decent ones but the opinions vary all over the map. I have the YOKO AVS ES100's and really like them but others swear these are awful.

I currently run Nitto's...............not bad in rain, Absolutely Awesome on a nice warm day! .............Death defying in snow (literally)...................you'll be lucky to get more than 15k on them before replacing them

Advan Neova AD07
1. They're better in both the dry and wet than S-03 of the same size, but I can't compare it with S-02 because I didn't replace the same size AD-07s on the OEM wheels, but I suspect dry grip is not far off of the S-02 in the same size, if not equal to or exceeding it.
2. They do not need as much warm-up time as the S-02s, and they're excellent in the rain.
3. They wear very slowly as performance tires. My previous set was sold with over 60% of tread on them, and they have been used for 15000 kms.

I highly recommend them.

I am a huge fan of Goodyear Eagle F1 on an 02. Better wet handling than the stock SO2 and I felt no loss of performance to the SO2 in the dry.

The 04 is a different story to my 02. At the moment, I would stick with stock setup as I am very impressed ... so far.

The RE050s are quite good, but they're a little on the heavy side.

Yokohama A048 (Compared to S02s):

Better dry performance.
Better wet performance.
Much less mileage.
Cost way more.

The Yoko AD07 tires are left and right specific, so they should not be rotated from side to side.

The Yoko A048 is a softer compound, and can be rotated from side to side.

The A048 is probably the best street-legal performance tire in the world for the S2000.

The Yoko A038s are not as good as the A048s, but are significantly better than the S02s. Too bad they are being phased out.

I'm not sure what size you are looking for, but the Yoko A032s are also available. I saw them this weekend on the Spoon U.S. car. They are also a better performance tire than the S02s.
