I searched and searched but all i found it Ti exhaust ant cf hood...

I'm talking about some real weight loss.. like loosing the conv top? or even changing the trunk lid to cf... light weight break calipers?

anyone konw how much the conv top weighs?..

My s2k will be a summer/no rain car so i can loose the top permantly.

I want to try to get the s2k down to ~2500lb including me the 150lb driver.

so that's what about 400lb weight loss.... I"m guessing the cov top weights AT least 60 lbs 02+ models with glass.. I"m tlking about the whole assembly.. motor, themetal rods..

hood and trunk change to cf will loose another 5-10 lbs..
loose the trunk lid springs and the spare tire(tools) 40-50 pounds
aluminum calipers about 10lbs(unsprung)
CF front and rear fenders - 10lbs
Ti exhaust 5-10lbs
cruise control motor assembly 2.5lbs
winshield washer fluid 5-10lbs depending on amount of fluid in the car
Shave rotors or carbon rotors... ???
lightweight flywheel ???
CF drive shaft ??

do coilovers have weight advantage over standard spring/shock setup?
does any coilover manufacturers make reversed shock setup for less undprung weight?

are the aftmarket manifold and cat's lighter then stock?
how much do the stock seat weigh?

lightweight 17" should allow better handeling then the 16"'s without weight gain

more then tring to gain power from the already fine tuned engine i believe weight loss is the way to go... form even loosing 200lbs you can see so much difference.... in acceleration/ breaking/ handeling...

Maybe there are restrictions that don't allow him to modify his engine? Are you racing in an organized event of some sort?

With a single ti exhaust i think you'd save more like 30-35 lbs rather than 5-10. I think veilside weighs around 6 lbs. Talk to Krazik about saving weight if you're serious.

Crayon, interesting name, creative If I were a crayon, i'd probably look more like this though: ())CRAYOLA))> lol, just playing.

You are going to be hard pressed to meet your 2350 lb weight target. The only way you are going to get there is to bascially race prep. the car. Are you really ready to do that to your car? The most famous is krazik's race only car which is 2375 lbs and he really stripped it. If you do what krazik did and spent money on some expensive body work you could do it.

Here are the easily doable mods, some are NOT street legal. The weights are guesses.

No cost stuff
- remove spare tire and tools (-30)
- remove air conditioning
- remove stereo
- remove all associated wiring harnesses
- gut interior (carpet, plastic, leather, doors, etc.) (-20)
- gut trunk interior (carpet, plastic) (-5)
- remove passanger seat (-38)
- remove wipers, and washer resevoir
- strip all sound deadening (-20)
- remove air bags
- remove dash (-15)
- run with the smallest amount of fuel (around 100 lb for a tank)
- remove bumper bars
- remove engine spark plug cover

Not too expensive stuff
- replace intake with aftermarket CAI (-10)
- replace glass windows with lexan
- replace driver seat with race bucket (-20)
- replace battery with lightweight battery (-10)

Expensive stuff
- replace exhaust with single Ti exhaust (-40)
- replace header with aftermarket header (-10)
- replace softtop and motors with hardtop (-30)
- replace stock wheels with lighter wheels, note the moment of inertia
- replace body panels with carbon fiber (think the CWest race car)
- replace brakes with light weight Wilwood 4pot designed by Docomind (-30)

losing weight in general is better than adding power.

Best to do both. Loose 250 lbs and add 250 hp.

Just for some info. I went witht he comptech CAI and removed the tools and the spare tire. My weight was a reduction of 47lbs. This was hanging weigt. Put everything in the bucket and weighed it all at the same time. I am hoping that the stock exhaust weighs somewhere at 55lbs. I am getting the Spugen single TI. This will give me another savings of about 37lbs. Then I will go with the header next. Almost 100lbs down. This way the wife won't matter when she is in the car.
