Default Someone, please, tell me this is a joke!

I was browsing the pages of the ATS and J's Racing distributor for the US and stumbled into this.

http://www.racingcraft.com/js-products-sev.shtml

Can someone please explain how it works because it goes far beyond my tech knowledge. Also check out the price and HP numbers!!! They got to be joking!

Wow, used to be all you'd have was fuel catalysts. Now we have an air catalyst!

Personally, I try never to say never, but their explanation of how things work with this system is very suspect. First of all, enough radium to pass through the rubber intake pipe and ionize all the air molecules inside would probably be dangerous if you were exposed to it for too long. It is a radioactive substance after all. Second, what's this about splitting O2 molecules into single O atoms (not only that, but according to their diagram, a normal O2 molecule has a positive charge and their O ions have a negative charge, I think there is an error in there somewhere, but I'm no chemist) and therefore reducing friction?

I'd like to hear from someone with a chemistry background on this one :-)

used to have a thing that was supposed to ionise the particles to take out the smell of cigarettes - didn't work - didn't cost that much

It really strikes me that a company like J's, producing really nice mods for the S2K (differentials, exhausts, computers, etc.) would market something like this.

You mean you don't want a radium ringed intake air molecule organizer under your hood? I'm amazed.

Perhaps you may want to e mail those good folks to discuss the physics of beta particle decay and air management at

yfukui@racingcraft.com

Now, I don't know if that's their real e mail or if they're telling us something. Gee, I hope they're for real, the racing version is only $3,500!
