Will there even be a 2nd generation S2000 or will 2005 be the final model year?

More speculation but we've not seen anything from Honda about the next generation S2000 which begs the question, will there even be a next generation?

I was digging through my press article archives and found this in an old copy of Autoweek, here is a clipping:

Well, it sure isn't Honda's bread and butter car so maybe it was just for fun and won't be around much longer. If that's true though, you have to wonder why they went to the trouble of making the changes they did with the '04.

I don't think they can improve the car any further So cease production immediately!

Interesting is this true at all? The s2000 is def not a money maker like the 350z or rx8 in terms of mass sales but maybe it is just to have at least a sports car in their lineup? Honda without a sportscar? Maybe a new prelude is coming out or CRX or Civic Type R? I dunno but they do need to retain a sports car.

Honda needs a car like the S2000, just to remind people that they CAN build a sports car. Why do you think the NSX has been around so long after it was competitive?

To be politically correct, a new generation would be a body change over.

Yeh from looks and specs the s2000 is basically the same car year after year. I consider a new generation as a bump in HP at a min of 15-25, same with torque, and noticable difference in body change as HI speedr said. Easy comparison is the current mustang to the new mustang about to be relased now that is a generation change.

speculating if the a new generation of S2000 is a waste of time. Only time will tell if they will make a next generation of s2k or not.

Honda iwants to make $$$. If they think a 2nd generation will bring them more money/glory, then so be it.
