Default Has this ever happend to anyone!

During a recent blast across Exmoor I encountered a 1 in 4 gradient. I was going down hill in second gear and using the engine to brake me (as you should!). Then 'free fall' began! The gear lever popped out of 2nd gear at about 4000-5000rpm - A bit dangerous I thought!

Can only assume the torque generated through the gear box and the loading due to the gradient was too much for the gears to stay interlocked! Its never happend since and I'm putting it down to a strange one off. I would be interested though if anyone else has had this happen.

Dave

At last weekends jockmeet while trying to err.. push the car quickly round a very tight, very steep, very narrow hairpin set of bends, the gear (1st or 2nd) did seem to pop out, although perhaps I hadn't slotted it in fully in the first place.

Great! Thanks for that.

Will report more when I've spoken to the dealer.

I had it pop out of 2nd once whilst chasing a MR2 Turbo. I think I was doing about 5000rpm and had just come off the throttle slightly because there was traffic up ahead.

I just put it down to not having selected 2nd properly in the first place or pulling on the lever slightly because I remember I still had my hand on it.

It has never happened since but this has me a little worried now.
