Default Looking to make first mod to my s2k....Air Intake

Hi All,

I am looking to add an air intake to my 2001 s2k. Right now it is completely stock. I would like an intake that looks good, has a louder than stock (hopefully deeper tone) sound, and will give me a small HP gain 5 to 10. I was looking at this site (see link below)

http://sportcompactsolutions.com/catalog/i...?cPath=22_42_93

but there are a whole lot of choices and I really don't have any way to judge which way to go Cold Air...Short Ram....K&N style....etc.

Any help would be much appreciated. I very much respect a lot of the opinions that I have read in these forums.

Thanks,
-Jay

You'll be lucky to 1 or 2 HP with any intake change. FWIW somewhere in these forums someone eluded that getting rid of the baffle in the stock air box will net you a couple of HP, sound great and still look stock

Sorry Mac - I stand corrected. I was remembering (or not) most of the threads I read on intakes here seemed to me to place little value other sound and bling.

The stock air box has a divider/baffle with a smallish opening for the air to pass. This is the baffle I read to remove. Not the lid.

CAI usually gains more power at midrange than peak, which is also very good for our cars.

Don't go short ram, I think you'll actually lose power, from the engine bay's heat.
