One day 2 boat charters = total cost......JUST food
The day started early on the J-Bone, Captain Jayson's 28 FT Grady-White. We went out about 15 miles out it was 4 foot swells .. for most of the morning ...but Jay's boat cuts right through them...the was blaring! So we get out there (45 minute boat ride) and were productive right away!!!!......including me bringing in my first tuna ever, all by myself!!! It was an incredible thrill!! I have a nice blister on my thumb from when the fish started to peel line....I grabbed the spool..he was running SO far and he SMOKED my thumb ...he almost spooled me. I was amazed at the power of these fairly little fish!
Anyway Captain Jayson's daughter wasn't feeling well so he needed to go pick her up from school so we thought our day was going to be done, cut way short. We were going to bay fish on Dr.Jons boat for the rest of the day (its iffy off-shore in his boat, its smaller!)...anyways Dr. Lon calls another fishing buddy who happens to work bankers hours and we end up going back out to the same coordinates in his 29 Foot Intrepid center console (MEAN Fishing boat!) and we hooked up a bunch more small tuna (they call them footballs)
Clif notes:
Mikey went off-shore fishing with his good friend Dr.Jon and managed to sponge off of 2 guys with awesome boats, take 2 separate boat runs off-shore and catch my first tuna ever!!!
Captain Jay rigging up on the ride out
All the rigging crap!, Jay has so much gear! He rigs everything himself!
Dr.Jon reeling in a Tuna, captain Jay ready for the gaf!!!!
Me and my new friend!!
We bonded instantly
Dr. Jon taking a turn at the helm of the J-Bone
Our second "charter" of the day
The J-Bone!!! the twin Honda VTEC 225HP makes this boat FLY...we were doing almost 40MPH into a headwind!

Glad you guys had fun. I don't think I'd ever be able to go deep sea fishing. I was ready to just spending 2 hours sailing in Lake Michigan.
I do love it it is unlike any experience I have ever had...to be 20-80 miles from land...no cell phones, just you on a TINY boat in the HUGE ocean..it really makes me you realize how insignificant we really are! :knock on wood: I havent been sea sick in forever, but on the wrong day/conditions Mother Nature can punish anyone ...
Had we ventured out front in Dr. Jons boat in the conditions we were in yesterday 4 foot swells... it is possible we would all have been ill!
