My s2K rolled down my drive way
The whole thing was pretty scary but funny at the end. IT all started when i was at work and i looked outside and saw my customer's car rolled....then i thought gosh how sloppy she was to have left the gear in neutral. Then i left work to go home and left the car on the drive way. Got back inside and then about 20 minutes later my neighbor called on the phone and said....."Stephen, the Yellow car rolled off your drive way!" i was shocked and all sorts of thoughts ran through my mind....knowing that across our drive way is another drive way but it goes down very steep. ARGh i ran out with the keys in my hand and saw my car in the middle of the road blocking 3 cars behind it. Somehow i was lucky enough to have left my steering wheel pointing in a certain direction that when the car rolled...it turned while rolling into the middle of the road. Perfectly straight and centered that nobody could go around it. It was embarassing. but im lucky...anybody got similar experiences? im sure you do
The same thing happened with my Integra before. Parked the car in the garage, only to later come outside and find it across the street in the neighbor's driveway. Luckily it didn't hit anything. I've since learned to always use the parking brake AND leave it in gear when parked!
We won't go there...
but pretty much the same thing happend to me.
I set the brake but left the car in neutral. I think that after the brakes cool a little that they lose their grip enough that if the brake isn't absolutely pulled all of the way up on an incline the car can roll.

Please people, this is serious ... Always leave your car in gear whenever you are parking on uneven ground. Just some reminders, if your head is facing uphill ... Put it into gear one or something, and if your head is facing downhill, put it into reverse. You don't even need to use the handbrake at all.
I had a Honda 4-weel drive wagon years ago that was parked in my drive in first gear. When the car caught fire the fire shorted out the ignition wires, which had the effect of turning the starter motor and jerking the car foreward a few inches at a time. The car went down my driveway and across the street where it hit a neighbors tree which also caught fire. The firemen said never to leave the car in gear. If I had had it in reverse it would have backed up and burnt down my house.
