I was waiting for the final ok from AEM to post this and I haven't heard back yet, but I don't think it's going to be a problem...

There has been some talk on this board lately about AEM's new CAI. Yesterday, I had the chance to drive out to AEM's facility and dyno test the new CAI. The results were rather impressive. I don't have any pictures of the intake right now because the prototype we tested with is pretty rough around the edges and, understandably, AEM would prefer to have the first pictures be of a finished unit. You do need to cut the fender area slightly to get the intake into the front passenger side of the bumper. I'll post pictures as soon as I get my finished version. We dyno'ed with a stock intake and exhaust, then with everything stock, but a K&N E2435 (dyno'ed almost exactly the same as stock, but slightly lower). Then we dyno'ed wtih the AEM CAI.

Anyway, enough jibba jabba, on to the dyno results!!!

We dyno'ed in 3rd gear, which screwed with the numbers a bit and made everything a little lower than it would have been if we had dyno'ed in 4th. For the sake of comparison, here is my dyno sheet from last year at Dynamic, where I dyno'ed in 4th:

As you can see, the intake makes some very nice power gains and sounds VERY nice. From about 6500-7200 rpms, it tapers down to about stock power and then starts making gains again. Darren at R&D was confident this was a fuel tuning issue as well as the area from 8400 on. He felt with some minor fuel tuning, more power can be made all over and the power will not taper off after 8400.

I see a loss of power at low rpms.

And that weird jump w/ the K&N is odd.

That bump looks like an intake resonance working in out favor.

The bump in power at 3750 is indeed resonance working in our favor.

So what would it take to move that resonance up in the power band, at least into vtec?
