Default Good Place for Alignment?

Anyone know of a good place that can do an alignment close to Schaumburg or northern burbs? My car is lowered with Eibach springs.

I heard some places can't if you are lowered due to clearance issues.

Also, what specs are good for a lowered S?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Oddy

Oddy -

I got mine aligned at a place in St Charles. It was fully laser aligned and I was able to sit in the car while they did it too to get as accurate an alignment as possible.

They had no problem doing the full alignment and my car is lowered around 1.5"+

Total cost was about $80 - but honestly I think it is well worth it - I am getting perfect wear across the whole tire.

Ill dig out the spec sheet and post specs and the name of the place as soon as I can find it!!

you might want to PM Harry - he recommended them to me

Thanks guys. I think the place in St. Charles might be easier for me to get to.

Please let me know the name of the shop and phone number if you have it.

Thanks,

Oddy

I've also gotten an alignment done at Tuffy's in Elgin and at Motorwerks in Barrington.

I went Tuffy's on recommendation from Harry...he was getting their "good guy" pricing of $60. I went to them and they took two attempts to get the alignment right. The second alignment was spot on....but all together cost me about $140 and two trips down Randall Rd.

I also went to Motorwerks for the last alignment. I forgot the name of the guy that did it, but he's a Porsche guy. They charged one hour of labor, $90. They took 2 hours to complete it, while I waited. BTW, it was a custom alignment. I WILL be going back there next spring.

Both places use the Hunter Douglass 4000 (or is it 9000?) laser alignment machine. It makes doing alignments pretty straight forward for them.

I wish I had close to $100,000 to invest in this machine. I'd charge every car owner $40 each alignment. In fact, I wish I had $200,000. I'd not only buy the Hunter Douglass alignment machine, I'd also buy a AWD dynometer. Come to Urmil's for alignment and get 50% off on a dyno run....then eat at the UBAB right across the street.

Thanks Harry for supplying the info....just when I managed to find it too!!

and you are right...the price was $90....I didnt even get the heavy accent discount

I can only say good things about Perry - great service and willing to set the car up however you want. He spent over 2 hours getting my car just how I wanted it.

My final CUSTOM* settings are:
(with me sitting in the car)

Front Caster: 7 deg.
Front Camber: -0.75 deg
Front Toe LEFT: -0.15" RIGHT -0.15"

Rear Camber: -2.2 deg
Rear Toe LEFT: 0.20" RIGHT:0.20"

* my car is lowered a great deal and these are custom settings. Normally, these settings will cause heavier/increased tire wear on a stock suspension setup.

In my case - I have achieved nothing but constant tire wear throughout the width of the tire - $90 very well spent.

PLUS - car handles like it is on rails

Thanks guys!!! I probably should wait until I get new tires first though. Thinking about Toyo T1-S or maybe the Mich. Pilot Sport 2.

Bridgestone S03 are good for road racing and cornering, but my driving doesn't push corners that hard. Besides the Toyo's are about 5 pounds lighter per tire!

I have had three good alignments done.

top honors go to

Big Bear Tire in wisconsin
Motorwerks in Barrington "Alignment guys does all the cars there"
King Motorsports.

I would glady have my alignment checked on Harry's recommendation.
If we had some type of group day type thing.
