Default stripping car + street legal

With no truck and trailer, i'm forced to drive to tracks. Now my question is how much of the car can you strip and still be legal to drive on the streets? What about adding cage? street legal? the car is not commuter and only drove over weekend for trackdays.

Surely that depends on your own state laws, right? Do you have inspections? Emissions testing? What are your seatbelt laws like? Your muffler laws?

I know a few people who sometimes drive race cars to the track by purchasing one-time transit permits. That's another option.

I'm in CA. I know about the SMOG laws, it's not that i'm concerned with, it's things such as stripping out the interior, removing ac/heater, etc and adding cage, race buckets, etc.

You shouild be able to strip out the entire interior as long as you maintain seat belts, horn, turn indicators, lights.

Just think what you need on the street.

Just my 2 cents.

There is no law in California that says you have to have a working speedometer.
