Might trade the S2k for an 05 Boxter S
Have you guys read about the 2005 Boxter S? All new body panels, Carrera seats standard, 280hp with 166mph top speed! , Optional 19' rims and tires, but standard 17" and 18" wheels and tires. I wish Honda would beef up the S2k to compete. The rumor is that Honda is scrapping the S2000 successor.

I like the new boxster and especially the coupe version thats suppose to be coming out. Its definately pricy, but hey its a porsche. I don't think any other roadster can touch the new boxster right now.

The new Boxster is great.
I only wish they would produce a coupe with the current 996 turbo motor. My 996 turbo would be gone in a heartbeat.

And that new Boxster will probably be close to twice as much as a S2K so Honda doesn't really have to do anything to compete if someone weighs price into their equation.
I looked at the Boxster S before I bought the S2000. At the time 2003 they still had plastic rear window. Maybe 255hp(?) or so and $52K. The new Boxster seems like a a better deal with it's refinement and slightly higher price but lots of improvements and more standard equipment.
Driving the BS (02) and the S2000 I couldn't detect a big difference in acceleration, handling or fun-to-drive. And at the time, $32K was better than $52K. Now $52K isn't as big a number for me as it was then. And next to $72K (and up) for a 997 it seems reasonable.
I can say now, the S2000 is way behind the BS especially the new 280hp BS is a number of areas. The Boxster has tilt/telescoping steering wheel, probably more comfortable, more forgiving handling, Stability control, probably better stereo, and way better TQ and now more power than the S2000.
If I ever got rid of the S2000, I think I'd go with a BS. The SLK350 is very nice, but IMO still not as much of a sports car as the BS or S2000.
Other way I can go is with a Z06 when it comes out. Sure that's a beast, killer power etc... However (for me) I think I'd get into a lot more trouble with 500hp. It'd be tough to keep it at sane speeds. I've driven both 03 Z06 and 911 tt. Both cars are in a different ballpark than the S2000, ,however except for acceleration and speed they are no more fun than a BS or S2000. And since I've never been to a track and since we have very low speed limits, I think I'd miss out on a lot of the thrill of a very powerful car.
