Default Unjustifiable Repossession of My S2000

An estranged partner of mine repoed an S2000 of mine (claiming I owe him money). I have the pink slip and he is nowhere on the pinkslip (definately isn't a lien holder). How is this possible?

this has every indication of a newbie trolling but i've got free time so i'll bite.

1. define "estranged partner" because i'm probably not the only one thinking the "custom color" on your s2000 might be pink.

2. who purchased the vehicle, signed for the financing, or whatever you did to obtain this vehicle?

3. nobody calls them pinkslips anymore...it's called a title and are you shown on the front of the title as the owner or is it a financial institution?

4. does your "estranged partner" have a written agreement that proves you owe him money? if so, is there a clause anywhere that says this person can take possession of the vehicle if the debt isn't repaid?

5. how did your estranged partner "repo" the vehicle? did an actual repo company, hired by the leinholder, repo the car or are you mistakenly calling him putting a key in the ignition and driving away a repo?

it sounds more like grand theft auto if you ask me but more information will be necessary either way.

Sure it was your partner and not your bank?

I purchased the vehicle in cash at a salvage car auction. This vehicle I had rebuilt (separate from my partner). There was no financing. My partner and I had a quarrel and he decided to try to rip me off. As a result he -- somehow -- contacted an actual repossession company which repoed two of three of my vehicles. One my recently repaired S2000 (from the body shop) and two other irrelevant vehicles. This partner had nothing to do with this S2000 and had no documents whatsoever describing his ownership of the vehicle (maybe he forged them)? Anyway, the week later, he has the vehicle towed to my shop with a handwritten note stating he took his half! The clean title S2000 was sawed in half after I had paid to have it completely repaired!!! I have spoken to the Repo company and they harass me and act in a highly unprofessional manner. I researched them (M H Baldwin) and they are supposedly a licensed and credible repossession agency. I would sue, but it will cost many thousand in attorney fees. Any suggestions? How could this happen?

Um, the S2000 was sawed in half? How about calling the police on him?

If you're serious about all this, you're better off contacting a lawyer.

Get a lawyer. Plenty of firms give a free consultation and work on contingency if you're worried about costs.

not joking. But lawyers fees will run me close to the cost of the vehicle. The police call it a "civil" issue and won't do anything

someone hiring a repo firm to steal your car, then sawing it in half doesnt sound too "civil" to me...

id get a lawyer. its not onyl about the car...its also emotional damages (i think you can still get cash for emotional damages, right?)
