Thumbs down Tips for new S2Ki members and guests

We seem to have groups of new owners and enthusiats all join S2Ki around the same time and with the number of badges I've been handing out lately I think it is safe to assume there is a new class in town

First of all to all of you, and do not be afraid to speak up in any thread you see within the Mid Atlantic S2000 Owners Community. You'll find that we're much more open to any questions or thoughts than the open boards......meaning: most of us will answer your question instead of telling you to "use the search button"

Don't be afraid to chime in within the "Hard at Work" thread - we're all friends and it is a great place to seek any advice if you don't feel like starting a new thread.

The MyS2K button is your friend. You'll find numerous options available down the left side of your screen such as "Board Options", "Signature", and "Profile".

I would suggest changing some of your "Board Options" to viewing 50 posts per page and maybe 100 threads per forum (if you're on a decent Internet connection). You can enter an AIM or MSN account into your profile settings and also an email address if you don't mind people contacting you there. Avatars are nice too - these help to personalize your posts a little more.

As for viewing pages on 50 posts it may help you to understand why you'll see this smiley: at the top of some pages and not others. Every 50 posts is called a Corner and the smiley is a way of laying claim to capturing that corner. This is something done in fun, and S2Ki is probably the only place you can get away with calling someone a "Whore" - a "Whore" is considered to be someone who posts a lot

I have seen people get upset over the smiley, but someone who posts that after you isn't calling you stupid (most of the time) they're just agreeing with you.

With that said, please keep in mind that S2Ki is a message board all made out in type and there is a lack of "tone of voice", so if somebody says something that may offend you keep in mind that their intention was probably not the way you might be taking it. With over 40,000 people here and the entire world represented there are many different forms of humor.

We're glad to have you here, and hope that you find S2Ki to be a fantastic place to find new friends and any help you may need with your current/future S2000

And please feel free to use this thread for questions. Maybe someone will post up the different HTML codes that can make posting easier or make your posts stand out much more.

Finally picked up an S2k in Fredrick, MD last weekend....

Shopped for it for quite a while. And now can't get enough of it.

Surfed this site for months before buying and thought I would say , and thanks for all the info.

The Mid-A has tons of great advise on here (really helpful when shopping).

I live up in Rosslyn, VA and am itching for some nice weather to throw the top down without the heater on.

Yea...got the car less than a month ago. I've been searching quite a bit. Can't wait to meet some of your locals. I'm still heavily involved with the Audi club since i made a good amount of friends there...hope i'll do the same here at s2ki. thanks.
