Default Power Socket -- Worked Itself Loose

Hello,

My power socket has worked itself loose and the bit that it would normally screw into seems to have gone AWOL (I presume fallen down inside the housing).

When I asked them to have a look at this at the 36k service, they had a quick look, but said it wouldn't be covered under warranty as the installation of after-market speakers (by the previous owner) seemed to have interfered with the cabling to the power socket.

Were they fobbing me off (it was getting late), or should they have sorted it out ?
Should I persevere with a [different] dealer?

Here's a couple of pics ...

Pic 1: Thread on power socket is visible ... but nothing to screw it in to

Pic 2: Some kind of metal sheath visible ... but no screw-thread to 'receive' the power socket

If I perform some DIY, does anyone have any advice on where to start ?

As always, any advice appreciated

IIRC It's a fairly big job to get into that bit. I've stripped it down to that level, but I had the rear roofwell shelf out and lots of other bits before I got there!
