Question Amuse Exhaust Resonator Rattle

Has anyone else experienced this before?

I have this metal on metal rattle coming from underneath the car, seems like the middle section where the cat is. It usually starts to happen after the car is warmed up, after a few minutes of driving around. Does not happen at idle, but if I rev it a bit it happens even if the car is stationary. It happens when I'm driving around, accelerating, decelerating (engine braking), whatever, except cruising at highway sppeds. Despite the noise, the car drives and performs fine.

My guess is the cat heatshield is coming loose or theres is a problem with the exhaust, which I doubt since its an Amuse.

Any ideas?

Update: The metallic rattle is coming from the resonator on the Amuse exhaust. More info below.

Even a nice exhaust like an amuse could develope a rattle.

Well I hope not. I didn't pay $2K for the best exhaust for it to rattle.

Well I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow to check it out. I looked the cat heat shields and its all nice and tight. I still doubt that its the Amuse, I mean what could come loose in there that would cause a metallic rattle, its just a piping?

There is a bulletin about the clutch making rattling noises that sound like a loose heat shield, maybe you might just wanna check that out too.

I'm starting to think that the internals of my cat converter are loose. From my research here it seems to be a common problem.

I'll know for sure tomorrow, I'm taking it to the dealer.

Hi little buddy MAV, mine did that rattle thing too a year ago. I t ended up being an internal rattle and Honda replaced the cat for free no questions asked even with a modified exhaust on the car.

uhm, the noise you speak of, is the clutch disk rattle. sounds just like an exh shield. especially on decel, in the mid RPM. i just changed my clutch disk cause it was driving me nuts, and i have an 04. now the horrible rattle is gone. yay! laters dave

A few years back and on another Honda vehicle, I had a metal sounding rattle comimng from the cat area. It turned out to be a couple of pebbles that were trapped around the heat shield. Just a thought.
