I really disliked the clutch delay valve that Honda put on the '04 clutch slave cylinder because it caused some pretty bad slippage with doing fast shifts at redline, especially in the higher gears.
So I swapped the '04 version for the '03. It's a rather easy task - just a few wrenches, fresh brake fluid, and something to cut about 1/4" of a guide pin.
Here's a shot of the '04 and '03 slave cylinders together. The smaller dark one is the '03. Notice the different mounting locations for the hydraulic lines. The slot for the alignment pin on the '04 is on the end of the cylinder, and much longer than the slot on the side of the '03. That's why you have to cut off some material from the alignment pin on the hydraulic line. After removing the banjo bolt for the hose, it's a simple matter of removing the two mounting bolts.
Here's the '04 slave cylinder, in it's natural home on the side of the transmission.
Besides the simple swap out, you need to bleed the clutch system to get the air out after moving the hydraulic line. Here's the location of the master cylinder reservoir - I was surprised at how dark the fluid was, considering my car has less than 4000 miles on it.
Now that's you've got that 04 slave out of the car, you should try pulling the delay valve so that others can know if it's possible or not without having to swap the whole thing. Should be an retaining clip underneath that rubber cap that is above the feed location.
There's a metal plug underneath the clip (may need air pressur to pop out after the retaining clip is removed, then the check valve and spring under that. Remove everything than put the plug & clip back in.

The above two statements seem to be contradictory. The first picture, you say the "old" one is the smaller, dark one. The second picture, you show the "old" one as the bigger, silvery one.
The thing that you grind is actually on the end of the hydraulic line, right? It's not anything on the slave cylinder itself, is it?
I think he was referring to the old one being the '04 slave cylinder, and the new one being the '03 slave cylinder
Yeah, I mixed up my "olds". First time, "old" mean the '03 cylinder. Second time, "old" meant the one coming off the car. I'll correct the post and make things more clear. Sorry!
