The leak starts from the differential mount? I got under there and looked... no liquid anywhere around or above this rubber "motor mount" essentially. Only visible drip lines originating at the mount itself. It's thin like gasoline... but dark brown/blackish in color. Does that mount have some kind of liquid in it that I don't know about? I thought it was a simple rubber mount with a metal ring around it.

Any help here?

This is a well known situation. You need to replace your mounts. Yes, they are liquid filled.

 

do you think the mounts rupture from age,vibration,from dryness? and what could be done to preserve them?silicone spray? or just replace them and live with it.

 

Damn that sucks... my car only has 28,000 miles on it. Out of warrantee by years too. Hope the mounts don't cost too much.

 

Those mounts aren't too expensive but that is indeed were ur leak is.

 

Although well known, it's not common. I think some mounts are just poorly made and got past the quality control. Maybe the odd one was mistreated when installed. I'm not sure there is anything you can do to help them live longer.

 

It's not common for them to fail. Honda has used liquid filled mounts on several vehicles. I've not been able to narrow down a pattern of age/milage they fail at. Some do early in the car's life, others last the life of the car.

I wouldn't blame driving it hard being the cause. I've seen diff mounts from a turbo S that haven't had any issues.

 

I had one go bad at 2k miles. leaked all over my polished exhaust and it was a pain to get most of it off. Only took the tech 20 minuets to swap it out.

 

I just got back from the Honda Dealer and he said that my drivers mount was leaking and i was very perplexed becase i didnt know they were liqiud filled when infact they are. Warrenty for me
