Looking forward to the 2nd Cape Fear SCCA Event of the season, the Wilmington Industrial "Top Gun Challenge ".
Last year was a blast even though we had 105 cars for such a small site. As indicated in the title, we will be competing while the Blue Angels are performing in the Azalea Air Show at ILM Airport (only about a mile away). I'm sure they'll be roaring above our heads!
This year we have imposed a limit of 50 Cars first-come first-served. Pre-Registration is Req'd at www.myautoevents.com*** REGISTRATON IS NOW CLOSED, WE HAVE MET OUR LIMIT OF 50 ENTRIES ***
Here are some pics from last years event at the same site. 105 cars were just too many. Add in Hurricane Charley's Rain & Wind, and Timing & Scoring problems, it was a tough day for the organizers.
I was driving the red lancer OZ in the pic parked behind the greenish civic waiting in line. I had fun driving in the event, but the organization was horrible, but I also understand it was a new group putting it on.
Another great event for the Cape Fear Chapter of the SCCA. Sorry no pics of the Blue Angels, but they put on a great show right above our heads just after the trophies were handed out. EDITED POST WITH RESULTS CLICK---> Top Gun Challenge 2005 Results
Very clean Silva and Elise.
Local Wilmy exotica.
A not so exotic race car. But at least the pic does have a S2k.
Hope you guys had fun! The weather yesterday was fantastic. Anyone know when the next event is? Hopefully I'll be able to take off work to attend. Do you know if they have any other locations in mind. That location tends to eat tires.
Pavement on course was'nt too bad, since we rented a Parking lot vacuum machine.
Next event is June 5th at East Columbus High School - Lake Waccamaw. Won't need the machine there, it has very nice pavement. Online registration will be opening on May 5th.
