Default AEM v2 and Bumper vents

I have the AEM v2 CAI and Ive been debating on whether or not to cut out the front fake brake vent.. It would direct air right into it... Which in my opinion would be alot better then it is now..

On the downside, Itll put rain right into it too, so i just wont drive the S2k in rain.

SO if I dont drive the S2k in the rain or wet, Will cutting that vent out be better.. or will it cause problems????

Well you can do it like I did it or buy that grill set. I just cut every 3rd slit groove if you can see it here in the picture. I dont know why people always complain about hydro this and hydro that? If you see a puddle, dont go through it Then again I live in Hawaii so we dont know much about rain just sunshine I have always had AEM's and thought how in the world would the air get to the filter in this bumper properly? So I cut it on the vent ducts and in by the radiator.

Kind of dark pics but you get the idea.

I just used a good ole craft knife from like napa or model shop. You know those small ones for making model planes and stuff.

Thanks for the pics... so you dont think there will be any problem with that?? good..

I have an 03 though so i think i may just cut the whole entire vent out.. but im not sure that i will want to cut the other side to make it look even or not??

Ill have to check out the radiator plastic too.. ill probably end up with close to the same thing you have.. Thanks again

If anyone else has any input on problems this may cause, let me know!

as far as where they are located in the bumper, yes they are in different places, but I know that if I cut my pre 04 fake bumper vent that it would let the air hit directly onto the airfilter.

Are you referring to the X-acto knives? They're durable enough to cut through that plastic??

Yes the xacto knife is really good in cutting the plastic. Oh and the vents are basicly in the same area of the filter. Most people I know just cut the radiator side plastic as it is in the instructions and you will get much needed air from there if you are worried about the look if you were to cut out only one side of the vent.

You might want to do a search for hydrolock. Cutting out the vent may let more water into the CAI.
