Default Evo MR? S2000 might have to go.

Well, unfortunately it may be time to let the S2000 go. I have two kids and really could use a second car that has back seats. I would love to keep the S but I just can't afford to have three cars in the garage right now.

My brother has an Sti, so that is out. But I was thinking about the Evo MR!

Other thoughts have been the G35c or Mazda RX8.

Opinions on the Evo and other suggestions welcome!

it depends on if you want to mod it or not, if you are into a lot of performance mods with a functional interior then the MR is the way to go. but if you were just gunna leave it stock the best option might be the new g35, it looks good in and out and has some horsies to go with it. but if i had to choose i would definately go for the MR.

Since you have more than one car, go for the EVO MR. When that thing breaks, you'll have another car to drive while you fix it. And trust me, problems will arise!

Edit: I just saw that you have an '04. You might wanna keep it as it isn't financially wise to get rid of it now.

my 2003 Evo VIII has not had any real problems.

one of the inter-coller / intake hoses popped off a couple of times (after i cleaned it properly it hasn't none have fallen off in 20 months now).

that was it. I finally needed a new clutch at 17k miles after about 35 drag launches....

it currently has ~19k miles on it. I bought the first one the dealership had sometime in late March 2003, so it is over 2 years old now.

even the 2003's come with a 5 year 60k powertrain warranty and the 2004's come with 10 year 100k warranty.

^^ I'm glad you've had good luck with yours. I wish I could say the same thing with my old weightless white evo. That thing was only a headache for me at only 600 miles. I did not abuse it whatsoever and mitsubishi still denied any warranty service. The warranty sure does sound nice on paper and in the ad's, but what good is america's "best backed cars" if they don't honor their warranty? I'm not the only one that has had problems, it seems that a good percentage of the people over at evom.net are having problems as well seeing that everytime i go there, there is always a thread regarding mitsubishi's denial for warranty service on things that shouldn't be breaking. I love the EVO and it is absolutely a blast to drive, but i need something more dependable as an only car. I would LOVE to have the MR to compliment my S. I hope you continue to have good luck with yours .

I think I'd take an RX-8 over an MR - its just a more livable car than the Evo, which is pretty barren. The Mazda offers a good compromise on quality, sportiness, andutility with its back seats. What is your other car btw? That may change things...

The RX-8 isnt even in the ball park of an Evo MR.

Dont waist your money on an Evo MR. Its way over priced. go buy a regular Evo and put $5K into it. Going that path will get you a LOT better car.

I'd say get the RX-8, it's the most similar to the S2000's performance (9k redline, light weight, great handling) and has great styling IMO.

IMO screw the MR and the RX-8.
My brother has an Sti
Buy an STi like your bro or like babyslapmafro said, a G-35 with the sport package and 6-speed.

All those cars are not suitable for a young father. Go get a TL.
