Default Question About Clutch Pedal Vibration!

I know that the clutch chatters some as you decelerate in the 3000rpm-2000rpm range. I've recently noticed that the pedal vibrates some. Clutch engages/disengages without any problems. No slipping and no shifting problems. Just a funny feel at those rpm ranges. I don't believe that there is any problem. I was just curious if this was a normal occurrance.

Believe it or not, I think that it's always been there. I've just been wearing thinner soled shoes as of late and can feel it through my feet more.

Cheers

Compared to others cars I've owned, almost everything on this car vibrates. I just assumed it was normal. Have you noticed your shift knob shaking around when you're just idling?

Why are you able to feel the clutch pedal shaking while decelerating? Is the clutch engaged or dissengaged? Just trying to figure out why your foot would be touching the pedal if it's not on the floor.

Wes,

When I'm disengaging the clutch for up or down shifts. Sorry didn't word it correctly.

Hmm, I'd have to say that I've never felt anything out of the ordinary...will be more alert on my way home to see.

Wes,

I didn't mean to suggest that there was anything wrong. I was more curious than anything else. I just putter around town generally and I felt it the other night when I was driving through the mall parking lot. Just happened to be around the 3000rpm range.

Maybe its some sort of harmonic resonance at that point in the rpm band

The decel noise is supposedly the clutch disk buzzing from the transmission gear lash and engine pulses. It is not clutch chatter as I understand it.

I believe what is usually referred to as clutch chatter is noise and vibration as the clutch slips and grips on the friction surfaces. Often cause by a bad surface on the flywheel and/or friction disk.. sometimes by oil contamination or even drivetrain tolerance problems.

I guess it is possible you are feeling the buzzing when engaging / disengaging the clutch.. or maybe it is chatter at that time. I don

Thanks Chris,

Actually, I'm quite gentle with the transmission. No speed shifting, no high rpm launches, just normal driving. I did a little experiment last night. I switched shoes to a thicker soled shoe and the vibration disappeared. The resonance that happens,(which by the way is a good description), is around the 2000 - 3000rpm range on a light throttle load. Engagement is the same as always <LONG>. It just seem very strange since I haven't felt it before.

If your wondering how it feels take off your shoes and let the car decelerate to the prescribed rpm range and place your foot on the clutch pedal. You'll see what I mean by vibration.
