Default Key hole getting stuck in

My '05 Suzuka with 6,600 miles just started this yesterday and it's happened now 3 times. I take out the key and the car is beeping like the key is still in the ignition. It won't lock with the remote. I've found that I have to go back and put the key in to make the key hole pop back out. Never had this happen on my '01. Anyone have this happen?

Dealership....warranty. You could try lubricating the the the keyhole, but honestly I'd just have Honda take care of it (that way it can be documented if you have future problems down the road).

Yeah, I know. Just wanted to see if this is a fluke or not. I hate taking my baby to the dealership.

That's a weird one, Kyras. Sounds like the dealer may have to replace the lock. A little lock lubricant may do the trick, though.

Try some of that lock deicer stuff. It also contains a lubricant.

The lock on the front door of my house was sticking and I used some spray moly lube from work and it worked great on the lock. So try some moly lube?

Mine does this too (every once in a while). You can tell right away because when you open the door, the seatbelt chime sounds. Just stick the key in the ignition about a millimeter in, and the keyhole pops right out. It's not a big deal at all, doesn't happen that often, and would be a waste of your time to take it to the dealership to do something about it... (not to mention the dealerships time).

Despite the suggestions to 'lube it". I would go to any hardware store and get a small tube of powdered graphite. a small amount puff into the ignition will clear this. You should never use a wet lubricant in a key hole. It's just a NO NO. MY04 did the same thing a month after delivery, one puff...It's gone

Same thing happened on my Prelude(but only after 140,000 miles). Powdered graphite solved the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. Thank you Monkei and S2K'ing-IN-Spokane, for telling me how you handled it, or not. Now I can take it to my local dealership (who treat me nice ) and tell them that I know of two others who've had the problem. I just want them to lube it so if anything goes wrong down the line, it's their responsibility to make it right and I don't get any BS for whatever I've done. I can tell them also that it's not necessary to replace the ignition.

*BTW, this is why I pay for Gold Membership. The help I get here when ever I ask for it, is a bargain for 50 bucks and I'm glad this site exists.*
