Default Glove Box Lock revisited

I've been living with this for a while so I figured it's time to get some feedback and decide if I should make this an official Modifry Product.

I never could figure out how to lock and unlock the factory key lock so I gave up and installed a secondary locking system. I figured it had to be something that could be installed easily and that meant it had to fit inside the glove box because it's a LOT of work to remove it. Since the box is already so darn small I decided to steal the trunk switch space and use it to my advantage.

As you can see, I replaced the stock trunk lock switch with a little mechanism that flips a steel rod 90

You mean the whole 'insert key and turn' thing?

Uh...remotely. As in, with the key fob "lock" and "unlock" buttons.

It would have been nice to use the factory locking mechanism, but it's impossible to retro-fit something that could be activated electrically and have it be easy enough that the average S2000 owner could install it.

Bob,

$50 sounds quite reasonable if you're providing all of the parts in kit form...

wait a second, you're suppose to be working on my vtec mod, not your glove box organizer anti-theft device

I do like that though. I'll leave sometimes with the top down and wish I locked the glove box or even worse, I'll lock the box, come back, start the car and then realize that I have to open it forcing me to shut the car off again. I think if you marketed it with the optional button for the trunk release, it would get a good response.

Wouldn't the key fob remote be able to pop the trunk?

yeah, but if the car is started, those buttons don't work. Plus there have been a number of times where I went out to my garage and needed something from the trunk and didn't have my keys with me. I think people are more prone to buy something if it doesn't mean a sacrifice of something else.
