The whine really varies greatly between installs. We have 4.57s in the race car, and you can barely hear them. (Of course, the exhaust is a straight pipe, so ya couldn't hear the whine anyway. )

I don't mean to get too far off topic, but doesn't the 4.57 ratio render first gear virtually unusable? I'm not trying to be a wise-guy, but what is the pay-off for the swap?

Not at all.

It does require you to shift a bit sooner and restricts top speed a bit, but that's about all. Acceleration is much faster.

Hey Drew, you mind if I come by and listen for myself the infamous gear whine? I'm seriously considering it, but not if it'll make me wear ear plugs like I had to with my old exhaust.

The car is down at Richard's right now; anyway, it's track only. (Definitely no longer street legal) We'll be @ Big Willow 7/2-3; come on out.

btw, there's an apt. available in the building next door. If you guys are still looking, lmk and I'll get you the info.
