Cool Next NSX to be announced tonight?!

I know this is probably the wrong place to start this thread... so feel free to move me... but I know many people will be interested in this one...

Story from www.vtec.net:

NSX Successor to be announced tonight, '05 is final year of current model
Date: July 11, 2005 18:54

We've just received word that a memo was circulated to Acura dealers today regarding an announcement that will be made "this evening" with respect to the future of the NSX. In particular the memo advises that production of the current generation NSX will cease at the end of this year due to strict '06 standards for emissions and equipment in US, Europe and Asia.

The memo says that "it is too early to discuss specific details" (of the next NSX model), but it continues by saying that this "ultra high-performance vehicle will be just as groundbreaking as the 1991 NSX was when introduced fifteen years ago."

This is all we know at this point. If we were to guess, it seems that perhaps the official announcement will be released on http://world.honda.com.

Film at 11.

UPDATE: we've just learned that "this evening" means 7PM Pacific Time.

so far everything i've seen makes that thread on vtec.net look bogus. the "7pm" magical time has come and gone and there is NO information ANYWHERE supporting what this guy has said.

not on honda.com nor any of the other major nsx sites out there.

in other words, don't hold your breath.

Frankly i'm more excited over the new Fit that's coming over. I'm not holding my breath over a new NSX. Look at Nissan, its taking them like 3-4 years to replace the GTR...

Congratulations NSX owners. The value of your cars will start to rise. By how much, I certainly don't know.

Sad day to see the end of the NSX production, but good news that there will be an NSX sucessor finally. Lets hope that it really is as significant as the NSX was in 1991 ...

They're only rumors, but I've heard of a V8 Ridgeline mule being tested. That doesn't mean a V8 Honda will ever make it into production, but it opens the possibility for a V8 NSX ... although I'd still doubt it until I heard it officially.

This also begs the question, how long before the S2000 production ends? It seems a 2006 S2000 is inevitable, but perhaps 2007 will be the last production year with a new S2000 waiting for us in 2008? Who knows.
