I'm in the process of either buying a brand new MY05 or a used S2k (04-05). Are there any things which I should be careful/aware of when purchasing a used S2k. Any tips/thoughts/opinions on buying a used/new S2k would be appreciated. Hope to be a fellow S2k owner soon!

 

Buying so new I don't think you have much to worry about because a) you have a warranty, and b) the 04-05 models are pretty bug free. The only real complaints I have seen are a very isolated tendency to pop out of 1st. gear when starting out so make sure this isn't a problem. Other than that, look for damage caused by previous owner. There should be a matching VIN decal on every panel (10 total) and the engine vin should be close but may not match up as they come down separate lines at the plant. (Both VINs will be on window sticker if previous owner has it.) Have a good look underneath, both front and back for any damage as the car rides low. Take her for a spin listen for any clicks and groans and feel for any vibration or pulling and you should be good to go. The 04-05s are put together pretty well. Good luck.
