Anyone have a coilover adjustment...
I installed my coilovers myself, and they are fine...Rescently though i have been reading that their are several ways to adjust them properly...Does anyone have a write up on to properly adjust them? i would like to lower my car more, but i want to make sure everything is 100% before i go about this...

yeah man, give me till tonight to make a write up...i'll include pictures along with it.
oh, I see, well I'm not a coil expert, so I'll just leave the review open to change if anyone else wants to put in some more detail on to adjusting coilover height. I was gonna wait for this weekend to raise my car a bit, but since class was cancel today, I'll do it today.

Heres a picture I took when I went again to readjust my height on my car. I lettered the spots I want to talk about from A to D.
-Install your coilovers on all four corners. Measure how much of wheel gap you have and measure from the fender lip to the ground. Write down the measurements on paper. Make sure your measurement that you make from the fender to the ground is equal to the other side for balance of height. Now choose which end you want to work on first. Choose the fronts cause their the most work involved.
-Now take off both tires, unbolt the bottom of your coilover to the control arm and unbolt the Y control arm its lettered A. Much easier to work with that un bolted to the car. Now do the same to the other side.
-Now measure the threading on the coilover marked C.
-Now what most people think to adjust their ride height is to move the collar marked B and they move the collar up to make the spring shorter thus lowering the car. Your doing two things when people do this. Yes your lowering the car, but your stiffing up the pre-set spring load. So even if you have your damper set at 32 your coilovers are riding on a damper of like 1, super stiff. Which lowers your coilover life.
-So what you want to do is leave B alone and don't mess with it. Tighten up the collar so it won't move around. Untighten collar D (well right above where the arrow is pointing at) and un tighten it.
-When you took the measurement from C you first want to know how much you want to lower or raise your car. Lets say you had 2inches of wheel gap. You want to lower it by 1inch. And say you have 3inches of theading on C. You want to cover 1inch of the threading to lower your car. To raise the cover you want to uncover 1inch (or whatever) threading on C.
-So what you do is you grab your coilover and move it towards you. You untighting the collar where D is at and you turn that whole bracket up to lower your car or turn the bracket down to raise your car. Once you have the bracket where you want it at leave the bracket there and move the collar towards it and tighten it good. Then do the other side the same way.
-Once your done with both sides bolt up A and then bolt up the coilover to the control arm, then the other side. Might want to have either another friend help you bolt up the coilover bottom bolt or use your trusty flat-tire triangle jack in the back or your car.
-Put on your wheels, lower the jack and do the rears. Do the rears the same way as the fronts, but you don't have to worry about control arm A. Just unbolt both of them move the coilover towards you and move the bracket D up to lower or down to raise your car.
-Measure your car once your done. Write down what you have and compare. Make sure your equal to your front right and front left. Same goes to the rear rights and rear left.
That is pretty much about it. I'm by no means a coilover expert, but someone asked for help and well I called to answer. If anyone has more knownledge to give please post up, any tricks, tips, more adjustment tips for the hardcore racers out there, post it up. Thanks.

too lazy to rewrite
So basically you have to loosen the bottom collar, then grab hold of the shock and turn in which ever direction you want, depending if you want to lower or raise correct? Just making sure so i know what to do when i get mine next week. So do you set the upper collars so that the spring is snug with the pillow ball mounts? That being 0 pre load? forgive me if I sound nubish, first set of coilovers that I had to do it this way. I had Bilstein coilovers for my Si and i had to adjust from the upper collars. Anyways, any info would be greatly appreciated...

You don't turn the whole shock... if you look at the picture I took you see where Arrow D is pointing at... a metalic looking cover right? Well, that thing is hollow and you spin that around. Not the shock it self. So you spin that cover which is called a "Bracket" up to lower the car or spin it down to raise the car.
Don't play around with it when their still in the box, I learned that the hard way lol. Yeah 0 pre load is where its snug at the bottom of the pillow mount. Hope this helps man and if you have anymore questions feel free to post up on here.
