External Resevoirs and Shock Travel
I noticed that alot of aftermarket coilover suspensions for the S2000 lack external resevoirs in the rear shock where as the stock shocks have the external resevoirs. I have heard before on this forum that those single bodied shocks have less suspension travel due to not having external resevoirs. Can someone explain why that is?
Having used the search function already, i came up with this thread:

And here is a quote from Krazik:
"I meant more along the lines of many of the single bodied rear shocks (JIC, Ohlins, BuddyClub, etc) have a problem of not enuf rear travel/droop."
--Does this mean the more droop you have, the more suspension travel?
I just sold my Tein RA suspension and will be driving my car with stock suspension for awhile. I know that the stock suspension is great but my car is a daily driver and i want it to also look good. Thus, i am hoping to pick up a set of KW V3's in a about 2 months but want to make sure that those are the shocks i want before i put down 2 grand on them. Thanks in advance!

Try to picture that little hose not being there, and that extra resevoir is connected to the bottom of the shock, making the shock an extra 3-4 inches longer, there's your longer shock travel. I'm a mere novice in this realm of motorsports, some of the smarter fellas will chime in and bust you with mad technacalities yo!
yes
What he said. The nitrogen and the piston between the n2 & oil are in the remote resevoirs in those type of shocks allowing the shock piston to utilize the full shock body for travel. Single Bodied shocks have to make room for this in the body of the shock and they can reduce the travel almost in half.
Our rear shocks are too short to have both in a single body. The fronts would be ok, but this is the reason the shocks come from the factory w/ a remote resv.
Yes get the KW's you'll be happy w/ them. Stay away from the JDM crap (with a few exceptions).
I laugh at these guys that buy Buddy Club, JIC, etc then try to lower the car only making the travel problem worse. They mistake stiffness from higher spring rates of better handling.

Don't worry about the technicalities. Just get what's proven to work. The guys here found that the KW's work well and may be the best for the price. You may be able to get better, but at a much higher price.
Ry, check PM.

The KW's definitely have more travel , I could feel it the first drive. It provides grip in the rear
Now I wish there was a way to add more droop travel in the rear suspension.
