I know the ipod adapter is sold but i was wondering if anyone knows if it will work for DAPs other than the ipod... (i have an iaudio X5).. i've looked and can't find anyting that says "ipod specific"

this particular adapter - the kca420i is ipod specific because it has the dock connector adapter on the end to attach to the ipod.
If you have an alpine headunit and want to run a different mp3 player (or any aux device through your headunit), you can do so via the AiNet port on the headunit. You will need to buy a similar sized piece called the kca410c. It is otherwise known as the Versatile Link, and you can run up to 2 Aux devices and 2 cd changers via the headunit.
Alpine has actually discontinued these in favor of the Vehicle Hub, so if you find one, jump on it quick! I know they have always been in short supply - took me a while to find one too.

Yeah i've got that i think...AInet to RCA to 1/8 headphone plug.... it sounds great i just wish i could control it VIA the headunit and not have to do both... it's kind of a pain. hopefully the X5 becomes popular enough for someone to make this unit! (doubtful but i can hope)
